Green Lane Veterinary Clinic is a long-established practice (established in 1999) that reviewers describe as independent rather than part of a chain. The clinic website states that urgent and emergency cases take priority over routine ailments, and it’s also listed as a veterinary nurse training facility (one reviewer describes being asked whether a junior nurse could observe an appointment).

Friendly local vets. Managed to arrange an immediate appointment for my injured cat, offering flexible and sympathetic care which has helped her get back on her feet quickly.

This is one of the best Vets I have been to, the staff are friendly and professional and I cannot fault the care and attention they have given to both of my dogs. I would recommend to everyone and so nice to have an independent vets clinic as opposed to all the chains. 😊

I’ve been visiting this practice annually since moving to the area, 10 years ago, to ensure my 2 cats, Mac (left) and Dennis (right) maintained the best health as they are beloved to our family. Last year was no exception; after turning 16 I took them to receive their annual boosters, as requested by Green Lane. On arrival I saw a new vet, not the owner as usual. As Dennis was being checked, I was asked if junior nurse could observe for training...stupidly I agreed! It soon became apparent the vet was more concerned with impressing the nurse than with my cats welfare. As I struggled alone putting Dennis in her box, the vet (slowly) progressed weighing Mac while loudly guffawing with the nurse. This (obviously) upset Mac who managed to escape the vets grasp – not too hard due to the lack of focus occurring, and scared due to the noise, trotted my way on the inspection table. While still chatting, the vet proceeded to pin her down with one hand and inject her in the left shoulder, with the other hand, causing Mac to yelp and hiss ☹ I thought this odd as the practice owner always applied the injection between the shoulders, and carefully to the scruff of the neck. But as I am not an ‘expert’, and had never been told by the vet these boosters could be harmful, l assumed no ill effect. 2 months later a large lump developed on Mac’s shoulder. After returning to Green Lane, and £1000+ on biopsies and tests, the results came back advising it was cancer, caused by the booster (injection point sarcoma)! When my wife rang to discuss with the vet responsible, the only reply she got was how 'interesting' the case was??!! I phoned the practice owner asap to relay my concerns. She advised due to my cats old age and as they rarely go outdoors, the booster was not needed. When I raised the results, citing the injection point, I was told my cats immune system may have changed, even though she has received yearly. This was followed by Mac being only the 2nd case in the history of the practice. I re-raised concerns about 2 micro-chips implanted (at a previous practice), when Mac was young, due to 1 chip slipping. I asked if this could have contributed to the condition? The owner assured me she had personally reviewed all x-ray’s and there was ‘no sign of this elusive chip’. Finally, I requested she discuss the chaotic appointment with the other vet to avoid this happening to somebody else’s pet. Due to Mac's age, surgery was not an option. I instead sought holistic treatment at a new vet, in the hope to prolong her life and comfort. At my request, Green Lane sent on all test results to assist. Upon review it was immediately evident, even to me, there were 2 chips, the second in same place as the tumor - the left shoulder - point of injection. Diagnosis – evidence supports if the booster was applied in the normal way (between the shoulders), same as the preceding 14 instances, the cancer would not have manifested. In January, after giving her the best Christmas we could, as her condition worsened, we took the painful decision to end Mac’s life. We used a fantastic home visit service (Farewell Friend) to put her to rest. Dennis, now a heartbroken 17 yo, spends her waking hours patiently sitting in the garden, hoping her sister will return home. I’m hoping her grief lifts for her remaining days, but it truly breaks my heart watching her trying to relearn life without her sister. Unbelievably, now Green Lane vet is sending me urgent chasers for both cats to get their annual booster, prompting me to write this review. Even if this is a clerical error, I would expect more care after a decade of using their service. I will never use this practice again.

Always fantastic here looking after our 2 dogs Bertie and Stan. Have been to several vets over the years and these are definitely the best in my opinion. Never disappointed or let me down. Highly recommended

I cannot thank Green Lane enough for the care they gave my Dear old Annie . She suffered from fits since January . An old lady at 15 , sadly she got a little bit more poorly, but a year on and sadly was her time to run in the field in the sky. She was so looked after by Val and her colleagues. I cannot thank you enough for giving us another year with our dear Annie wobbles. The care till the end was outstanding. We miss her dearly but happy memories a must. Thank you so much all of you . You go beyond and that me and Annie will always be grateful . Thank you for giving me and the boys that extra time and always understanding . Great team. Big love and thanks
