I have taken my dog to New Romney practice today. The vet, Graham, who is supposedly a Senior member of staff was just rude from the off, more interested in point scoring. My dog doesn't like the vet, and hates a muzzle. Instead of spending a little time reassuring the dog, fussing him a little so he was calm and less nervous, he was more interested in getting us in and out. No effort, no empathy, just rudeness in tone and approach. He wasn't prepared to attempt anything really. This was a horrendous experience for my dog, and me as a customer. I understand that the practice Director was in reception, who happens to be the wife of this vet. No point in complaining as I believe I would have experienced the same tone and approach. Poor attitude, poor customer service and poor approach to my dog.

My 90 year old mother was charged £40.07 for her chihuahua’s nail clip yesterday. Extortionate!! There is a practice 5 minutes from Barrow Hill that I called after my mum was “ripped off”. They would have charged £15 for the same service. Unbelievable difference. Guess we have found our new vets though!! No wonder so much in the news at the moment about vets prices!!

We use Barrow Hill for both our indoor cats. They are in quite often having a nail clip and the nurses are fantastic with them both, especially our tabby who doesn’t enjoy the nail cutting process at all! Our poor tabby actually stopped eating a few days ago and has been sick/had diarrhoea - I rung this morning as we are more getting concerned about her, and they booked us straight in to be seen by a vet named Alice - she did a thorough examination, explained very clearly what she thought was wrong and offered a clear treatment plan for our girl. All experiences we’ve had with both girls and the vets have been positive and we wouldn’t take them any where else. The pet health club is also really worth the money for us and would definitely recommend if you have pets that require lots of visits!

Visited yesterday and our vet Alice was quite simply phenomenal! Not only did she make myself and my dog feel comfortable and at home, but she answered all of my questions in language that I could understand. She fixed the issues my dog had and gave useful and practical advice on how to manage things long term and I left feeling so pleased with the amazing care I received.

Thank you to all at Barrow Hill Veterinary Practice, especially Konrad Ruszkowski whose professionalism was reassuring at a time when we needed to cope with some bad news regarding our dog Ruby. I can not thank them enough for their genuine kindness and all the cuddles they gave to Ruby while she was in hospital.
